3.0d owner from Oz

Post by SMOKEY » Mon Sep 29, 2014 5:43 am

Hi guys,

have been lurking for a while and taking in as much info as possible while I hunted for an E53. Signed up here because the US forums have no info on 3.0d's.

Was tossing up between an 4.8is and a 3.0d, but more or less waiting for the right one of either to come up (they're not as plentiful on the ground over here as in the UK it seems!).

I wanted a Le Mans blue 4.8is, but ideally a Le Mans edition 3.0d as it looked the part, but without the pesky SLS and monster running costs.

I waited for 6 months, and nothing came up.

Finally bit the bullet and purchased a 2005 Sapphire Black 3.0d as the price was right and the km's were low. It's got factory fitted 168's, arch extensions, pano, alcantara roof etc - so it's basically a Le Mans edition but in black (no bi-xenons  :(, no Nappa)

Anyway - hope to pick it up later in the week.

Plans at this stage are to get the car Opti-coated (so I don't tear my hair out trying to keep a black car clean and swirl free), windows tinted, Avin head unit & reverse camera to replace the factory Business item, remap and some lighting upgrades. But pending what the 1.4.0 scanner says - that may be mods might come after any required maintenance.

Will post pics once I have it in my possession!

Mat

Thanks, I have been doing some investigating.

H1 is the correct bulb right? So any H1 HID kit will fit?
