Pc remote access
Re: Pc remote access
There are several software suites available it really depends on what you want to do, I have always used PC Anyware to interface with industrial control systems and remote PC's, but these days there are several online and even free packages available.
Once you find the best one for you the more you use it the more you will wonder how you lived without it.
As with all software some are more user friendly/intuitive than others remember that whatever you chose make sure your security is bang up to date and working.

Re: Pc remote access
You may need to reconfigure your router too. Do you have a fixed IP address from your ISP? If not you'll need a service that knows when your address changes.
Definitely use a highly complex password of not less than 12 characters too.
PC anywhere isn't bad. I keep my files on a server with its own web address that I can access anywhere in the world. You can get cheap NAS devices that do the same.

Never anthropomorphise computers. They hate that.
Re: Pc remote access
It sounds like you need centralised storage more than remote access to a PC. I would go for a NAS for that purpose rather than exposing your system to external access.
