Re: glow plugs!
Note that even on my code readout it said that the glow plugs were failing, it was actually the glow control unit that needed replacing.

Re: glow plugs!
Yes, if you suddenly get all 6 plugs failed, chances are that the relay is dead instead.
Re: glow plugs!
Great stuff fellas and thankyou for the replys.
I suspect that the glow control unit is the culprit then as my peake code reader is saying they are all faulty but 1
Whist re doing the washer jet that came off again i had a mooch and have just located the unit (thanks to chas3's link ) and it looks like APITA to get at with all the hoses around the area
Also it looks like the inlet manifold has to come of to replace the glow plugs.............oh well nevermind that ones for another day!!!! right back to it then PDC's next

Re: glow plugs!
Yes, my inlet manifold had to come off to replace the control unit. That was my argument with the warranty company as even though they paid for the replacement of the box, they did not pay for the removal / fitting of the manifold.
From memory, the faults that AW8 read out on my car was exactly that.

Re: glow plugs!
If you're looking for them a bit cheaper than BMW , a company in Manchester called Diesel Jones do them
at £11.97 + Vat each , which is about £7 each cheaper than BMW . I know coz I found them when I thought
that was problem with mine .

Chris
P.S. If your attempting to do it yourself , be very careful and lubricate extremely well to extract them
otherwise thay have a tendancy to snap off , which means removing the manifold to drill them out !!
