Hi all, I picked up my 3.0i x53 yesterday and noticed a few problems......
The heater fan doesn't work - I have already ordered the new resistor to hopefully solve this
The keyfob only works sometimes.... the car had been standing for at least 6 weeks prior to me buying it and the battery was flat, could it just need a good run to recharge the keyfob battery?
I will check the key charge fuse today.
The steering wheel isn't straight, can this be put right easily?
I hope I am going down the correct route with the above problems, please chime in if anyone has any advice!

The steering wheel issue wants looking at as that can indicate bent suspension, crash damage or alignment issues. How does the tyre wear look?
The car battery needs a good 12-hour charge. The key fob will take a while to come back up but even 6 weeks of non-use shouldn't affect it. Our E46 keys (pretty much the same) were stored for over two years and still worked perfectly.

I agree you should get the front suspension checked out. The steering is sometimes left out of position when mechanics replace track rod ends, and forget to centre the wheel first, so could be a simple matter.

Agreed! nothing too bad to worry about here no doubt. Richard is talking of worse case scenarios here, and Im sure its just a case of doing tracking with steering set up dead centre will fix it. [emoji2]

Absolutely.....go simple and work up.

Cheers gents, appreciate the feedback! The key seems to work fine now, I did have the dreaded three lights on the dash earlier, but from past experience with BMWs I just reset the steering pos sensor and it went away! The x5 was meant to be my second car for my commute, I haven't used my 911 since i got this x5 last week, its so nice having a comfy quiet ride! Its a lot of car for the money!
