Topical....for now

Post by X5Sport » Mon Sep 15, 2014 9:24 pm

The Queen was in Glasgow when she formally met Alex Salmond, Scotland's First Minister.

EIIR: "How nice to see you Mr. Salmond."

AS: "Nice to see you Your Majesty. Now, what are we going to call Scotland when we win Independence?

EIIR: "Oh dear......one hasn't even considered that yet!"

AS: "OK, well how about calling it a 'Kingdom' and then I will be the King?

EIIR: "No, certainly not! One doesn't think that is appropriate."

AS: "How about 'Empire' then I can be an Emperor?

EIIR: "No, Mr Salmond, No! In one's dreams!"

AS: "All right! So how about calling it a 'Principality' and then I can be a Prince?"

EIIR: "No, Mr. Salmond! I think we will let it remain a 'country', and then you can just carry on as you are...."

He, he......very topical.  Personally I hope it is a no vote but in all honesty I don't think either campaign has been that good with so many questions not being answered people will be voting with their hearts, not their heads.

Accurate description of Mr Salmond by the OP. FWIW, I will be voting no for purely selfish reasons. I was washing the X5 on Saturday when some "Yes" canvasser came walking up the drive. It wasn't long before he was walking back down the drive. Each to there own though, but as a Scot living in Edinburgh, I am sick of hearing about the whole thing and cannot wait until it's over.

If it's a Yes vote, I will be moving over the border (if they'll have me).

The Media coverage has rammed the Scottish Referendum down the throats of everyone in England Wales and Northern Ireland to the point where every time it came on I changed channel or turned it off, as we had no vote and could not influence things.
So in the interest of fairness and balance can we now have a vote to see if we want to keep Scotland!!!

On a serious note I personally think that this is bad for Scotland and will cause division and problems for generations the vote was close so a situation has been developed where no matter what the result Yes/No half of the electorate will resent it.

I agree that it wasn't one of the 'finest hours' of recent decades....
