Sport mode

Post by Pyth » Sun Sep 07, 2014 4:55 pm

I'm more than happy with the 40d M Sport that I got last week, its goes better, looks better and is just overall better than I expected, however one thing that bugs me is that the car always start off in comfort mode, I prefer sport and I just wondered if there was a way of defaulting it to sport ? Anyone know if this can be done ?  Didn't find it in the options.

Thanks

Pyth, I'm almost certain that there's no way in the iDrive menus to set it up to default to sport mode, I think if possible, it would need to be coded. There are a few posters who are pretty clued up on coding etc., who may be able to advise properly?

Have to say I prefer driving in comfort most of the time...but sport is great when trying to pull out into a busy stream of traffic and get away quickly. Also like using the paddles to change up when in sport mode when I'm caning it, love that gear change ferocity!

Might nip out for a quick drive actually  O:-)

AFAIK it is not possible to do from the iDrive.  You might be able to do it via coding but you'll need to know where to look in the lines of code in the car, or possibly alter the wiring on the shifter to make it think it's in Sport?

Thanks for the replies, shame its not something that can be set in the options but its not the end of the world.  I used eco pro mode tonight for the first time  :))  WTF !! I couldnt stop laughing it was like the thing had turned into a Nissan Leaf or your first car after passing your test.    :naughty:  I loved the way the "foot on the peddle" light comes on when you toe it a bit.  I love this car more each day.  I've only managed 270 miles in nearly two weeks but I'm gradually finding out how it all works.

When I picked up my car in November, I had to drive it back to Edinburgh from Aberdeen, in the dark and in terrible weather...so as you can imagine I was driving very gingerly, so I put it into EcoPro mode and by the time I'd got home (130 miles), my available range had increased by about 25 miles, certainly makes you think about your driving style, although I still got nowhere near the purported 42 mpg! :))

I would suggest they default to the comfort/normal type setting because that is where economy/emissions are at their best....

I would suggest that economy and emissions are best in Eco Pro mode.
The clue is in the name.  :P

It'll be allright in the end. If it isn't allright it isn't the end
