keep the fronts and take rears off and get a body shop to fix the rubbed off paint work at the rear

same as 4) but colour code front - think the fronts probably do a job of reducing dirt and stone chip to rear

take them all off and get the rear rubbing of bumper fixed

What to do with my mudflaps on a black x5 m sport

Post by celica » Mon Sep 08, 2014 1:25 pm

I have a black x5 e70 with mudflaps, but the rears aren't fitted flush where there's a small gap and underneath I can see dirt and rubbing away of the paintwork so deciding what to do (once I have the time and funds)

So the options

1) leave as is - spend no money
2) get the rears looked at and fitted flush as is - little spend
3) get them all colour coded and refit the rears properly/ flush
4) keep the fronts and take rears off and get a body shop to fix the rubbed off paint work at the rear
5) same as 4) but colour code front - think the fronts probably do a job of reducing dirt and stone chip to rear
6) take them all off and get the rear rubbing of bumper fixed

It does ruin it more so not being flush

But they are big

If I take the fronts off will it increase stone chips down the side kicked up from the front ?

Those mud flaps do to your car what 535dboy does to women, i.e. a complete turnoff  :)

My car does not have them and as the newer models have the plastic fitted, I have no problems with the stone chips.

i would get them off front and rear, then take a sledge to them to stop them ever being fitted to another car lol

Plastic fitted?
[/quote]

Plastic film around in front of the rear wheels which prevents the chips from the stones coming from the front wheels.

Mine is just OEM, did not add anything to it.

I did get my car coated in Protech in NL though - which is a very tin film type product which helps a little with that as well to protect against stone chips.
