Passenger side window stuck down and door handle sticking out

Post by alz4m » Thu Jul 31, 2014 9:15 pm

I seem to mostly post in the problems section >:(

Yesterday I dropped the passenger side window and now it won't go back up- it's sitting slightly below where it should sit and will move up to the normal lowered position but no further. Also the door handle has popped out a touch (on the outside). Are the two things related?

I'm assuming the window has dropped past where it should and I've read a lot about regulator issues but thought I'd post in case the door handle suggested something else at play- it's always been a bit stiff...

Thanks as ever for any pointers!

Have a look at the door handle fix thread for the raised handle - does the door still open? Regulator sounds about right too.

Yeah it still opens- thanks for the pointer on the thread. Seems like they are unrelated probs then.

Window going down and getting stuck I doubt will be a regulator in the first instance.

Have a look here:

http://xdrivers.co.uk/forum/index.php/t ... l#msg82191

I had this problem and fixed it for a couple of quid. There are two plastic clips inside the door frame which play a major part on the window mechanism. BMW decided do make this out of the shittest plastic it could find so they tend to snap quite easily. Note there are two clips per door.

To add I don't think you have a carrier issue either (as the handle still works).

The exact same thing happened to me. Door handle stuck out and window not coming up. It was the plastic clips IMY mentioned. There are 2 holding the glass in place and one had snapped causing the glass to only be pulled up on one side. This caused it to rise unevenly and get jammed. Its a fiddly job getting your hands in there but a cheap fix.

Just see it as
"promoting opportunities for others to rise to the challenge and spread knowledge and experience..."

Other than that the plastic clips broke on mine too.
I fitted penny washers under the bolt to beef it up a bit and not had a problem since (approx 3 years)
If things were meant to be easy, then I will soon complicate them....
Please note...
Anything I say is only from my personal experience and knowledge..
I don't assume to know everything, and know there is a lot I don't know..
But then I could be talking bollox.. O:-)
