Woke up to find this damage..

Post by Dimsum » Thu Aug 28, 2014 10:23 am

Hi guys.

Woke up this morning to find this...

Image

I'm fairly sure someone doesn't like me where I live. A few months back someone ripped the whole wing mirror off of my Mini!!??

I've had a look on eBay and seen a few people breaking X5's but mainly pre facelifts.

Does anyone know if the wing mirror covers were the same on pre and post facelift?

On another note, does anyone happen to have one knocking about?

Not good.  >:(

Auto-folding?

Both pre-facelift and facelift are the same.

Sorry to see that it's a real pain and costly. It may be worth reporting it but the police are probably unlikelymto catch them.

I know some have used CCTV to help deter this but why should you have to go that route. Hope you get it sorted

Try a dealer, sometimes they throw a surprise with their prices. Always worth a try.

Thanks guys.

Non folding luckily and the damage seems limited to the cover itself.

I reported it to the police mainly because I am sick of this happening. I know nothing can be done because my other half and I are both in the job!

I have seen BMW's eBay shop are selling the "caps" unpainted for £50 which seems cheap to me. Wondering if it's even the same part?!

I think some CCTV is def on the cards..

Try to hold out for one on eBay in the same colour (save the search and get daily alerts). Non OEM can be a bit rubbish to fit...  :(

Unless of course you have a good bodywork contact.

What utter #ankers!!!  Really gets my back up when twats like this don't have the balls to face you but instead take this cowardly approach.

Defo CCTV needed as you know there's a good chance it will happen again

You ought to get it resprayed to match anyway because of the paint batch mix differences.

I came out to my car a while back to the same thing.  The wing mirror was not on the road side, but a grass verge, so wasnt knocked off and was no where to be seen.  As you say, a new back cover is about £50! for a bit of plastic.  Needless to say, mine is still without cover.
