Few issues- any help greatly appreciated.

Post by paddy wright » Fri Aug 22, 2014 2:25 pm

So I've had a few issues with the X all still covered under warranty (still just over a year left on the warranty).  The TV module was replaced - £1300 fr the part alone as was the satnav drive and cd changer.  The TV module controls the rear camera, TV and SATNAV and was replaced as the TV or camera occasionally would only show SAT NAV map.  The issue was supposedly due to water ingress.  However the issue still presents itself but the dealers cant find any fault logged and it never does it when it is in for fault inspection.
Over the last week the car has also dropped on the rear drivers side over night so there is virtually no gap in the arch- yet on start up it levels with no dash/idrive warnings of a fault??  Any ideas what this could be or if it is realted to earlier issues?
I will upload pics later when I have them off my phone.
Still love the car, just a little frustrated.

Sounds like either air bag leaking or a broken union somewhere.  Dealer should be able to fix it.  E70s seem to have more fragile bladders than E53s!

Thanks for the reply, would issues like a leak be covered under AUC?

I would be concerned that the TV module was seen as a water ingress problem, has the dealer made an attempt to identify where the water has been getting in?  If not the problem doesn't go away with a replacement unit.  As for the intermittent problem, I would try and catch it on camera as proof, as it's too easy for the dealers to say no fault seen.  Keep on at the dealer and don't let him fob you off.

They found a defective seal and replaced it.  I have taken a dated photo everytime I see it happen and have asked the dealer to look at it again.  In their defence they could/t be more helpful just concerned as we stil are not reaching a solution.
