Anyone know what colour auto transmission fluid should be? Just topped my engine oil up and had a quick look at the AT fluid, seemed clean but like a opaque mud brown. Also if the level is at the top to the filler cap is this how you check the fluid level??
Cheers

Re: Auto transmission fluid colour
Original is (Should be) a yellowy greeny colour...
Some types were light brown
Devron VI is predominantly red
As long as it doesn't smell burnt then you should be OK
To check level you should have car running in Park and gearbox temperature at approx 35-40degrees
Undo filler plug and you should have a slight weep from it.
Top up is same until you get the weep from the filler plug
