Rear seat cushion loose.

I will try to explain !

4.4i 03 car. Rear cushion (the bit rear passengers sit on that extends as one piece across the width of the cabin)
The cushion appears loose - if you pull it forward it slides forward a little. Also if you pull up on it, it moves by about 3-4 inches. If you get on your knees in the foot well and look where the cushion meets the base, there is a small gap (3/4 of an inch)
I assume the cushion does come out - perhaps its been removed in the past and not secured back properly (I have only had the car a few months)

Any thoughts ? Or any comments on how the cushion is secured - so I can take it apart and re-do it ?

Car passed an MOT just last week no issues (not sure if they check seat stability)

Sounds like the seat hasn't been put back on properly. Fairly easy to rectify. There are bits on the underside of the seat that pop into 'location points' on the bit the seat sits on. Get in the footwell and see if you can spot them then lower seat base carefully onto them. The bits can be quite stiff to pop into place but i found kneeling on the seat base and applying pressure from both knees on the areas above where the poppers are generated enough pressure to pop them into place. I weigh 11 stone so not too heavy btw. Hope that make sense!

Bingo !
Lined up and sat on the cushion & it popped into place. The reason it wasn't before is it wasn't lined up properly....cushion needed a shove. 15 stone here lol
