Fuel

Post by pcdee » Mon Aug 18, 2014 8:50 am

Morning. ....

Went to fill up this morning at my usual petrol station and I couldn't get the nozzle in, thought I picked up the wrong fuel type but it was the right one.

Went to another station as I read on another forum that the nozzle may be damaged but had the same issue.

Any ideas?

Could be an issue with your anti-misfuelling system on the car.  BMW started fitting it across the diesels cars from 2007 onwards.

The fuel port has two latches on it which are designed to prevent the flap just at the top of the filler pipe from opening if the wrong (21mm petrol) pump is put in there.  If one of the catches has jammed/locked etc then the little flap will not open.  Only a diesel (24mm) delivery nozzle is wide enough to press on both latches.

All I can suggest is finding summat that will press on both.  Needs to be 24mm wide.  And don't drop it!

Today I went back to my usual petrol station and this time i waited to use same pump as I usually do and hey presto it went straight in.

Needless to say I filled it up all the way [emoji24]

Well at least it works again!  Frustrating though.
