MOT wiper regs
MOT wiper regs
Can anyone tell me the MOT regs in relation to pass/fail on rear wiper please?
The issues I have is that it doesn't clear 100% percent of the screen and leaves a bit in the middle. I know that the issue is dirt in the pivot pinion as I've had this before and I've been trying all weekend to get it spot on but its not quite right.
Frustratingly, if you keep the screen wash going and try about a dozen sweeps it will be fine and clear 100% - but if you can back half an hour later you are back to square one
I rather suspect the MOT tester will not give it a dozen sweeps
So where do I stand with regard to the regs please?

Don't worry about rear wiper, never had it checked at mot, sometimes things have to work if fitted but a lot of cars don't have rear wipers so can't see it being a problem. Same as having a bald spare tyre, it's not part of the test,as most new cars don't come with a spare tyre, as mentioned above WD40 can free of the arm so it puts pressure on the screen but not an MOT failure .

Yes! As I say I know what the problem is and how to fix it (albeit on this occasion I haven't got there yet)
Just looking for the info on the regs as the title says
Thanks

Maybe the regs have changed but I know of folk - me included - who have been failed on the condition of the spare.

Re: MOT wiper regs
Section 8 of the 2014 MOT Manual (I know it says 2012).

Re: MOT wiper regs
Certainly. Try this: http://www.motinfo.gov.uk/htdocs/
Some if the files are zipped so if using a tablet you may need a decoder utility.

Re: MOT wiper regs
Glad it passed. Fwiw & afaik the rear wiper is not subject of the test. Additional lamps must all be working and maintained but rear wiper is not tested - only the front items. Of course I stand to be corrected.
