Air filter help needed for 4.4i

Post by Fostersice » Fri Aug 15, 2014 7:38 pm

Hi guys

I've got a 04 facelift 4.4i

I've had it 2 weeks
So far I've fitted
4.6i arches
4.6is rear bumper
4.6is rear exhaust
Done a de cat on both banks
Oil and oil filter change
Gear box oil and filter change
Transfer box oil change
New plugs

Now looking into new performance air filter

As it's so hot under the bonnet there's no point trying to fit a cold air intake as it will just suck hot air

So been looking at BMC pipers cross and k&n panel filters

What's the best one for the car

Thank you for your help  Image

Hi Fostersice,

You've been busy ! Out of interest - where did you source the arches from - and sounds like you fitted them yourself. Easy job ? My DIY skills are zero and I would probably get a body shop to fit them. I know, lazy and expensive....but I know I would just muck it up if I did it myself....

Cheers

Ro.

I found them on eBay

They are the OE 4.6is or 4.8is front and rear arches

If you get the OE ones they come as a complete arch not just the wider flare

It's 6 plastic rivets that you just push the centers and pull the cap out

Then there are two more under the car

Each arch had taken 10mins each

You will need to buy the plastic rivets from BMW @ £.60 each

I'm in Essex and if you get them I'll fit them for you

Your need to check to make sure they are the right ones as some have the wide side steps some don't

I was lucky to find them with out and only had to change the 4 arches

Hope this helps

Ps also your need the rear bumper spats as well
