Spec of my E70

Is there anywhere on line that you can find out the exact spec of your car?

BMW UK

You'll need the last 7 of your VIN.

Using a PC not Tablet as pop ups may not work properly - Go to the 'Owners area', Service & Maintenance, Electronic Parts System, use the credentials required as below:  To use the free online search, log in under the username 'eu111111' and the password 'bmwetk1' to get immediate access to our database of Genuine BMW Parts and Genuine BMW Accessories.

Then enter your VIN details and look for a choice called 'Options'. It pulls up your build sheet.

or this screen and do the same.

http://www.bmw.co.uk/en_GB/topics/owner ... urbmw.html

Sometimes the site is busy and can on occasions be in a foreign language but you can still get the details.  There are other sites that owners on here have used, but this is the one I use.

yay this one works for me  ;D but did put in ref number on front of log book first which didn't work then I realised it should be chassis number  :bangin:

anyway quick question or two, it says I have this, " Lug bolt retainer " whats this  O:-)
also says I have "Cruise control with brake function " tried this when I first got car and nearly crashed into car in front  :)) does this have to be switched on or is there a simple way to check on my car  ::)

Thanks d7bow the link worked a treat, and I could almost understand every word  :))

mine also has a 'lug bolt retainer' but I also have not a clue what it is.

I also have 'cruise control with brake function' I think this means the cruise control is deactivated when you touch the brakes, if you want the car to stop automatically you need 'adaptive cruise control'.

It really means that the cruise control can also apply the brakes to 'hold' the speed when going downhill say on a stretch of motorway or a 30mph limit.

If you pull the lever towards you gently to change speed and hold it there then the brakes will come on gently.  Pull it all the way back and as your cruise speed drops sharply the brakes are applied more forcefully.

I think the lug bolt retainer is just where your wheel security bolt key goes in the boot.  Got it on mine too.

I really struggle with the cruise control.  I find it counter intuitive and can never seem to get the hang of it (I've used cruise in all my other cars and even older BMW's and they seem far easier to set, resume and adjust your speed with).

I find I have to keep looking at the stalk to work out which way to toggle it!

Can't say I'm a fan of it either, especially as it's close to the steering wheel adjuster.  Not one of BMWs best cabin ergonomics designs... >:(

I'm a first time bmw owner.....my previous car never had cruise control.

Took a while for me to get used to it but now I couldn't live without it.
