BM54 & ?

Post by cameronrobyn » Wed Aug 06, 2014 8:15 pm

last year I swapped my standard radio for a Hauligan and now I want to swap back.  I have the DVD drive/sat nav and the head unit.  I know I need the BM54 and I'm sure there is something else in the boot.  Could someone please let me know what each does?

I only use the head Hauligan for its Ipod and have bought one of these from Ebay.

iPod iPhone AUX adapter cable BMW BM54 E39 E46 E38 E53 X 5 for MP3 line in 3pin.  I'm hoping I can connect this and hey bingo I have the ipod on standard.  I just like the idea of having the webasto heater for winter.

Thanks in advance :)

It's the tv module I need, adjacent to the radio.

The TV module is very pricey new and not easy to find a decent used one - you need the hybrid one (post 2004 I think) as the analogue-only ones will not work any longer. Beware of ebay modules as there are loads of useless analogue units out there.

An Analogue TV unit will allow your system (Nav Etc) to function as Condor says the TV function will not work but you can add a Digital tuner by using an AV input lead. A much cheaper option than buying a Hybrid tuner.

Hello Guys/Girls,

Interesting, how do you switch to the AV channel? I like the idea of just hooking up a Digital tv, ive got a EONON one in my other car and works really well.

Thanks in advance for replies  :)

You need an AV input lead I got mine from Dynamic sounds £40 or thereabouts. It is simple to fit just plug and play, it also allows reverse camera input.

Cheers for the input Greydog, could I ask that you maybe send me links please to the items I need. I don't really need the TV, but I just want the head unit to work including my webasto pre heat and the trip computer that runs across the instrument cluster.

Many thanks Andy

Hi Andy
Just search Ebay for BMW analogue TV tuner there are several on there at the moment about £60 (the Hybrid Digital ones are £300 + . I believe they are common to several BMW models. Mine is positioned next the battery in the boot blue and white connectors. If you want an AV input lead I got mine here www.dynamicsounds.co.uk you will then have the option for Digital Tuner and rear view camera should you wish.
The main point for you is you should have all your functions back

Is this what i am after?

http://www.dynamicsounds.co.uk/media-in ... tuner.html

and this

Bmw Lear analogue tv tuner bmw part number 6 945 298
For the 16.9 widescreen sat nav unit.
This was taken from a Bmw E46
It will also fit the following models
E38
E39
E53
It is in 100% working order. Please make sure you have the blue & white connectors in your car , as shown on the photo of the unit.  I have hopefully attached a picture, of the Analogue Tuner and the space in the boot where it needs to be.

Thanks for your help  :)

The AV lead is the one I brought and the TV tuner looks right. You should be back to normal now.
