....the music came back on after terminating the call!
As does the X5.
Long shot, does your phone support different bluetooth profiles? Any chance it is set as headset profile and not hands-free?

Re: Still need help please with Bluetooth pairing
A quick update....
It finally works, but cant get my phone book to transfer over, it says ' PLEASE WAIT' on the screen even though i can make and receive calls! I wonder if its trying to transfer the phone book?
Also i cant answer a call with the steering wheel buttons, when i press them it says on the dash 'PLEASE WAIT' and have to press the button on the phone.
But at least it kind of works!
I have taken photos ofthe connector which had come out of the arm rest and will post a new thread.
Any ideas?
Thanks to you all that replied and stuck with me!
Roy.

Still need help please with Bluetooth pairing
Hi Roy
One of the fixes I heard was to make sure the phonebook is on the sim as opposed to the phone memory. I know this worked for a friend of mine

Hi Roy.
At the top of the thread I put about my TCU not being connected at all due to cut cables.
Just to update, I stripped the cradle module and the wiring harness out (connectors are housed in the underside of the armrest) where I also found 2 more wires cut in the large multi pin plug
Not sure what the Fudge was going on but certainly looked like sabotage to me as there is absolutely no physical reason for any of the 'severed' cables to have been cut where they were.
I duly re-soldered all the cables including the antenna lead, protecting hem all individually and overall with heatshrink. After reconnecting it all, the BT went into pairing mode first time and succesfully paired with my Samsung M8800 first time, reading all my contacts from memory as I do not have them on the SIM.
Apart from a seemingly obscure phonebook order, the BT works well and will connect first time and hasn't dropped a call yet (Iknow it's early days )
Glad you sorted the pairing, just give the BT time to copy the phonebook over as mine took several miutes and have only a couple of hundred numbers.

Re: Still need help please with Bluetooth pairing
I will have a look and see if my contacts are on the sim, thanks for that!
Im just wondering if i havent given it enough time to transfer over? When i get into the car it pairs up automatically and 'Please wait' shows up on the screen.
I have waited between 5-10 min, have I given it enough time? could it take longer? what else could it be waiting for?
Roy.

Re: Still need help please with Bluetooth pairing
Mine only takes a few seconds when reconnecting before the 'Please Wait' dissapears.
It may be having trouble with your contacts if you have multiple numbers/email addresses and info per contact. Maybe a basic SIM copy would work?
I am thinking of getting a dedicated phone for the car and then seeing if I can get a SIM copy or clone to keep in the car...

Re: Still need help please with Bluetooth pairing
I asked Vodafone if i could get a duplicate sim card to do the same and they said it wasnt possible mate! Unless theres any other way?
So its normal to get 'Please wait' at this stage then? I think its an issue with the contacts as you mentioned, i do have email addresses and multiple contacts.
I will check now.

Re: Still need help please with Bluetooth pairing
I know that the service providers don't tend to do copys, but I'm sure there are people out there who can and will do it
Not sure what else to suggest if the contact contents aren't the problem, but good luck..

I've done exactly this - I just leave the phone permanently in the car, it is 100% compatible with the BT and Phone Book is perfect. Its a Sony Ericsson K800i, bought new old stock off ebay, and use the BMW cradle adapter for it. Redirect whatever other phone I'm carrying to the car and it works well. Mobile phone providers used to do duplicate SIMS from the days when BMW had those Motorola wired in units in cars - you couldn't activate them simultaneously, one or other had to be off. I don't think anyone offers this any more, though - would be really useful if they did.

Re: Still need help please with Bluetooth pairing
Roy, what phone model is it?? Have you checked to see if its compatible on the BMW list?
Maybe borrow a known compatible phone and pair it up and see if it copies the phone book over.......then you'll know if its the phone or if its a "glitch" in the Bluetooth module.

I have tried my wifes sony ericcson c105 and still doesnt show the phone book.
Cheers,
Roy.

Re: Still need help please with Bluetooth pairing
Do you know anyone with an older Nokia - the 6310i or 6230 perhaps?? (I know...they're ancient!!) but they are fully compatible, so if these play up as well then I would think there is a fault in the BT module, I'm afraid. Will try and check for the link somewhere.

Re: Still need help please with Bluetooth pairing
Told you to check the fuse!!! Anyway - delighted you're so much closer now. How many contacts are in the phone's internal memory? I ask because if I understand it correctly these are transferred every time the ohone synchronises on connection and it's not that fast a process, so if you have several hundred it will take quite a few minutes. Limitation of the system of that vintage I suspect. A new ULF might be better but they are not cheap - a few hundred I believe.

Re: Still need help please with Bluetooth pairing
Hi, I am having similar problem..... the cable from the armrest cradle was severed inside the centre console - I think it must have been caught by the handbrake cable. I have tried to re-connect, but there are multiple colour cables - 2 green & white, 2 red & yellow and 2 brown. Does anyone have the pinouts so that I can rewire without having to fit a new loom? Alternatively, do all the connections have to be re-made, or just the ones for the bluetooth pairing button - and if so, which ones are they??
