Replacing facelift d exhaust manifold

Post by mikem » Fri Aug 08, 2014 10:53 pm

Has anyone replaced the stainless one with a cast iron piece on a facelift car ?

Jumped in the wife's car tonight for the first time in about 2 months and thought my eyes were blurred then realised the car was smokey inside. Of course the wife claims it's never, ever done that before.  ::)

Did it about 4 weeks ago. Not too bad a job but I guess it depends on how much mechanical experience you have. Some good guides on this forum.

Cool. Which manifold did you use ? Trying to weigh up using an early genuine one against a later design non genuine. Realise the early one will loose a bit of power but the car is remapped anyway.

I used one of these. It has the same split chamber as the OEM stainless so shouldn't lose you any power.

AW8, my Question and delivery was a little blunt. Will bear it mind for future.

I could've called it far worse though  :P

My "old one" looks quite new but had a perfect split along a crease about 2" long. Would've been quite easy to weld but looked like it was starting to go in other places.

The replacement is a perfect fit with no issues. Car seems to be pulling much better now and turbo is quieter (turbo gasket had started to blow through)

Great service from the seller, for future reference guys.Image
