3.0d M Sport fuel economy
So, what is everyone else getting to the gallon? I've only done 650 miles, but haven't managed to better 34 mpg, with total average of 32 mpg.
My old E53 was meant to do 29.1 average mpg. And even after 110k miles on the clock it was still giving me a regular average 29 mpg.
Has anyone managed to do better than 34mpg? If so is there anything I'm doing wrong?
Cheers
Steve

Re: 3.0d M Sport fuel economy
How is your avg so close to your best? s most of your driving done on motorways/A roads?
I have seen a best of 36mpg on the motorway, but my average is 23mpg. I would love for my avg to be so close to the best figure I have seen, but I drive 90% in the city.

We average around 30 on short journeys around town, on a 800 mile round trip to wales mainly motorway & a roads but a bit of local travelling around the valleys we got 36 easily without even trying anything other than driving on Eco pro mode.

Re: 3.0d M Sport fuel economy
Did a round trip from Worcester to Manchester and got >42mpg. All in eco-pro mode and not above 65mph. Went up the M5/6 going up and via Derbyshire dales (A5 etc) on the way back. Just goes to show you can get good mpg but it's very boring! Good for running in though - only had 200 miles or so on the clock.

Yes, I agree entirely though it wan an interesting exercise to see if it was possible to break the 40mpg barrier. Probably won't happen again!

Re: 3.0d M Sport fuel economy
I'm driving to Scotland tomorrow night - 500 miles (cue the Proclaimers).
I'm tempted to try and drive economically to see what I can get out of one tank.
Nah, I'm over it now.

Re: 3.0d M Sport fuel economy
I had a 50 mile return trip on Tuesday i.e. 2 x 25 miles with 45 minute break and was happy to see 33 mpg. I only had 90 miles on the clock when I set off but had brimmed the tank and reset the trip computer. I was stuck on the M1 for 20 mins, although the stop/start took care of that and only started the engine once to run the A/C. Once I got past the numpty who totalled his Peugeot into the newly fitted barrier, I was forced to move briskly to meet my appointment O:-)
I have a trip to Southampton coming up soon and will report back on that. Fully loaded, the Disco managed 31 mpg actual so a good comparison.

Re: 3.0d M Sport fuel economy
So my trip to Scotland started with good intentions and finished with 33 mpg on the way up and 27 on the way down. You cant tell much from those figures other than I've got a heavy right foot and a low boredom threshold. I can say they are better than what I achieved in my e70 35d.
I took one trip into Perth and back (round trip 40 miles or so) and got 44 miles per gallon. That is pretty much a normal 2 lane road all the way so driving between 40 and 60 mostly.
Theres no doubt the car is better on mpg than its predecessors.
