Threads on wheel valves

I have a Ring compressor that I use to blow up my car tyres. My last 2001 X5 had 19" wheels on it and the compressor worked great. I now have a 2003 X4 with 20" wheels with what look like screw in valves on the wheels. My compressor will not screw onto these valves. Are the threads different to normal valves? I resorted to a foot pump with a clamp on end to blow up the tyres
Even the dust caps are a push on fit and don't screw on.

I can only think the whoever fitted new tyres last put a different tyre valve type in. In my experience, the valves are yanked out and changed whenever the tyre comes off. I can't see why a different rim size would have a different valve to any other rim size. I've got 17", 18", 19" and 20" BMW alloys in one form or another across our 'fleet' and one pump fits all.

The valves look like a screw in metal type, not the rubber type that get replaced each time the tyres are changed. The ring compressor screws onto the tyre valve, but will not fit. It looks like the threads might be different.

Never heard of ,or seen them before, are they run flats? and do RF's have different valves ?

Not run flats. They are Michelin Diamaris. Don't know if run flats have different valves. I will try and take a pic tomorrow.

Not quite

The valves have a stub about 10mm long next to the alloy, then a single nut then a small section of threaded pipe that a compressor wouls screw onto. It is this thread that the compressor will not screw onto, and the plasticvalve caps are just a push on, rather than screw on. The treaded pipe seems to have a different thread to either the standard valve caps and my compressor - that fits my other cars and my previous X5.

After a bit of searching on tinters it appears that the thread is a standard one. I examined the threades on my tyre valves and they are badly corroded, as if they have had no valve caps on or metal ones that have reacted and damaged the threads.
I bought a tool to clean up threads on tyre valves (£2.75) and this has done the trick My compressor now screws onto the valves, so no more using foot pumps

Do you find it worthwhile firing the compressor up for it? I generally do all cars / mowers, trailers, bikes etc at the same time as the draining of the compressor is just too much time consuming each time.

It is only a small car compressor that plugs into the car supply. I can plug it in the centre 12v socket and do all 4 tyres from there. Once a week I do all my 3 cars to keep them running right

ah, ok. When my 12v compressor went I got the huge one with all the air tools. Great to use it, but as I said it needs to compress first.
