Problems, problems!

Post by darisaac » Thu Jul 24, 2014 4:39 pm

I have a 52 plate E53, last weekend the blower stopped working, the control panel works and when I hit the ac button I hear it fire up but no air comes out the vents. Is this a common issue any tips on how to fix it?

Also to add further misery the self level susp inactive warning came on, car appears to be sitting fine, nothing changed with the ride, I see many threads on this but nobody seems to have the answers, any help much appreciated.

Hi, I had similar problems with the aircon, turned out to be a snapped belt. My cars same age as yours roughly so probably still running the original rubber.

Does it blow at all, whether air con is on or not?

If not you probably need a new hedgehog, I've had to do two in 9 months of ownership - although the first replacement was an ebay special.

You'd be after an E53 Final Stage Resistor, more commonly known as a hedgehog :)

I think even the official behr ones have more pins now.

I got a replacement from euro car parts for around £36 I believe. The one i got from evay was £22 but went within a fortnight!
