a few questions for those in the know

Post by BullyB » Tue Jul 22, 2014 2:04 pm

After a bit of assistance - the purchase I feel is getting close.... :)

Comport Seats - what are these exactly? It says they are perforated.
Soft Close Doors?
The automatic boot - does this open and close with the key fob? I'm assuming that the tail gate is still manual however.

I have found a very nice E70 with more extras than I thought were available. It's way over my upper budget level but I'm thinking it may be worth the extra cash.

Thanks
Ben

To the best of my knowledge:
Comfort seats: have a wider range of adjustments than other seats.  For example the headrest moves up and down electrically and has little 'wings' that can fold forward to cradle the head more.  Also, the upper part of the seat back can flex forward electrically.  The perforations depend more on the choice of seat covering I believe, but I stand to be corrected on that one.  Certainly my comfort seats don't have perforated leather.
Soft Close Doors: you pull the door to and then the final centimetre or two is pulled tight shut by motors in the car.
Automatic boot: button in the car opens the boot electrically and there is a button on the lower edge of the boot upper half to close it (again electrically).  The key fob also has a button to open the boot electrically.  I've heard that the car can be coded so that the interior button and the key fob button can also close the upper boot lid but I've not seen that personally - I'm sure others can confirm.

There is a version of comfort seats with in seat ventilation.  Those have part perforated bases and backs and a couple of fans not connected to the a/c though.  A pretty rare option here, but there are a few out there.

Auto boot will close with the key fob without any mods - mine does - but you do have to hold it down for a while before it starts and keeping holding it until it closes.

Pretty sure the button on the centre console only opens it. I'm sure I've tried holding it down before and had to resort to the key fob. Probably a safety feature as you can t really see from the front seats!

Fairly sure the dog will be okay as the sensor stops without much pressure :-)

Autoclosing the boot from the key fob does vary year to year and region to region (which I know because on my 2010 35d bought in Canada the only electrical close is from the button on the boot lid).  I suspect it's to avoid litigation...  (even closing the windows from the fob doesn't work either!!!)

Thanks for the info!

One more question - do the load covers in the boot have a net that pulls up to stop stuff falling forward?

I have looked at so many but just can't remember

Answered my own question by watching the dealers video again. It does have the pull up load net thing
