i8...with pics

Post by X5Sport » Sat Jul 19, 2014 4:35 pm

Been to a launch event in Cambourne for the new i8.

It's almost £100k delivered and on electric only does about 25 miles (the Dealer drone reckoned 300, but that's the range in hybrid mode with the 1.5L petrol turbo unit in the boot supporting the washing machine motor up front.

It's a very nice looking car but is a real 2+2 so if your kids/friends are more than 0.6 Sanjs (Xdrivers official measure of height) then forget it.  I'm 1.25sanjs tall and no one would be able to get in behind me.

Getting in and out is challenging.  There is some 'proper' way, but those trying it today found it awkward and that it created much mirth from those watching.

Golfers, forget using the boot.  It's tiny due to the several layers of trim, insulation, sound damping, engine cover etc over the 1.5L lump.  There is no room up front.

Piccies......

Oi, no offensive remarks about 991s  :))

(instant ban material).

I saw it last year in the summer in the London show room, looks very nice.
