E53 interior trim

Post by sleepyfolk » Sat Jul 12, 2014 4:47 pm

Right oh - firstly I don't want a green car, secondly I don't want a black interior.

I've been looking around as the preferred colour scheme would be a black x5 with a light interior (cream/beige/champagne/biscuit) they seem to call it anything!

I've noticed that the green models seem to have a full interior colour scheme I.e the rear load cover and boot liner and the lower portion of the dash match the upholstery.

Lots of black x5s out there with what seems a partial cream interior, dash is still black and the boot is all black.

Does this mean that they weren't originally built with a light interior and people have messed about with it or is it some quirk of the 4.6is and a number of 4.4's that they only seem to have this partial colour scheme?

Hi the interior could be specified when bought as to the colour of upper and lower half of the dash and door cards wood or aluminim trim etc.  nearly bought a silver car with black interior and sunroof and wanted a black car with black leather but my first thought was grey leather but as I saw one and it looked very tired with the grey and then I changed my mind.

In the end I finished  up with a black X5 with a sand /beige colour interior and the dash upper is black and lower is again sand/ beige which with the same colour door cards and no sunroof mean the interior is not too dark even with the anthracite headlining and it was a car at the right price at the right time and that was 2 1/2 years ago.

Last year on holiday a chap wanted to buy it but I said no,  I didn't even enquire as to how much he was offering. The reason for not selling it was as my wife said: what would you do next just go out and buy another X5 and
make the new one the same as my current one and she was right.

So be patient there are a lot of X5 about it just takes a bit of time to find one with the right spec and there is the odd one or two memeber cars that come up and the forum member will gladly hive opinions on any car you spot if you post the links they will see the bits you miss which is always a great help when looking at cars.

It's does  have the dark wood to complete the package and now I quite like the look.

However, everyone has their own preferences so the cars are out there it just takes a bit off time to find them

Thanks Graeme, seems I just need to hold out for that perfect car that fits, seems less common to have the lower part of the dash and the boot area colour coded but as they exist I will just keep an eye out
