E53 indicators - 3 flash from a press - it is possible?

Having got used to driving cars which give three indicator flashes from a quick flick of the stalk, is it possible to program on the E53 series electronics?

The iDrive equipped cars have it as an option now and having put an earlier Mk4 equipped car with no iDrive back on the road I wondered if anyone has come across the function buried in the systems?  If so where, and what was needed to program it?  Scanner 1.4.0 or something more 'serious'.....

Works via Intravee though, that is what I had on my M with the MKIV.

i think you can on some versions of the LCM
But not sure if they are retrofittable (??!?) to all..

I know there was one you could use to get the corner light arrangement working (Fogs on when you turn) but cant remember the version or if it would fit the E53...

OK.  Not going the Intravee route so will have a look at the scanner to see if the LCM will tell me anything.

On E46 models you can change the LCM to a later software version 4.0 or above for this function to work.
Any other models of the era require a intravee as far as I'm aware.

As it's a 07/2005 built E46 that's handy.  Any way to tell which version is already loaded?

This probably needs to be in the 'other marques' section now..... :-[

You may be able to get software version from BMW scanner 1.4.0
Click on LCM and at the top of next page you should see the SW version along with UNIT NAME , BMWTNR and so on.

INPA will also give you similar info under identification

Failing both above just pull it out (no need to disconnect) you'll find a sticker with SW version on it.

I think mine is something like SW 3.11  .
