Re: Alternator removal!

unfortunately the OBD is not the most accurate measurement.

You need to use a decent multimeter on the charging points

Re: Alternator removal!

13.6/7 is OK depending where you measure it!!

ideally you want 14 - 14.2 at the under bonnet charging points as it is a long way to the battery..
And the high charging current will cause a volt drop along that cable.

Re: Possible turbo issue? Engine much louder under acceleration & less go at speed

Have you checked the Injectors and injector wiring??

manifold pressure could be fuel rail??

Mine used to be a pig to start when warm due to 2 injectors leaking and it ran pants for a few minutes.

(Apologies if done as not read the whole post)

Re: Alternator removal!

Its a manifold off job minimum.

Whats the issue?
It could just need a regulator change which can be done in situ.:-

Re: 4.8is - cracked open front diff

Theorising or Hypothisising...(even if i cant spell any of them!!) When driving forward to the pit the wheels drop into the rollers. Assumption here that the rollers were not locked??? in which case the front wheels will spin up due to less effective grip. Regardless of the TC cutting in he revs to ...

Re: X5 3.0i auto 2002, gearbox help.

The trouble is ATF and engine oil don't mix very well!!
You will need to flush it out and that will be a pain, and you won't get it all out unless you have a mega flush done

Then there will still be remnants in the torque converter.

Strip might be your best bet..

Re: X5 3.0i auto 2002, gearbox help.

And look who comes out the woodwork.... That looks right manky (tech term) and is definitely not right. Is it thick n sludgy?? ATF for these should be straw or red and feels quite thin Smell it for burning too. You could rebuild it yourself and is not that difficult really. I had mine apart enough ...
