Re: Greetings from Brisbane

I can certainly believe that - any European products can command a (sometimes unrealistic) price premium. In fact my wife's sister was planning to do the same thing with a small Alfa when they were emigrating. Ironically the X5 is one of the better priced European options - as a 4 x 4 it's ...

Re: Greetings from Brisbane

I think using the current exchange rate distorts the calculation - the A$ is currently very strong against the GBP. In the last 2 years it's gone from A$2 to the pound to the current A$1.5-ish, so we should probably knock a few grand off for a better comparison. As for toys, I'm not sure which of ...

Re: Adding satnav to my X5

OK so I've established that I don't have the wiring in place and I'm resigned to getting a TomTom or similar. Anyone have any recommendations for a unit that integrates nicely with the X5 interior. Pictures would be great.

Re: Greetings from Brisbane

This one was A$40k with 100k km's on the clock. Not sure how that compares to UK - it's been a while since I left. Used cars seem to go on forever here -no salt on the roads I'm sure has something to do with it.

Greetings from Brisbane

Hi, I was forgetting my manners and hadn't introduced myself before posting on the E53 forum. Expat Brummie living in Brisbane signing in. New owner of a 2006 E53 3.0d - not sure if it's facelift or not. I'd post a picture or two but it's back at the dealer's already - noticed orange and red Oil ...

Re: Adding satnav to my X5

Took the CD changer out this afternoon - the only unused wires are some that terminate in a blue connector block (same wires and blue block are also present on driver's side). Looking at the cost options list at the top of this section of the forum I would deduce I have Option 602 and so no wiring ...

Re: Adding satnav to my X5

Thanks for the replies. Definitely no DVD and I don't remember seeing any loose cables but I'll have another look when it's light. I don't know if it makes any difference but this is an overseas model - I'm in Brisbane. Presumably if I have cables it's just a case of acquiring the DVD module ?

Adding satnav to my X5

Hi, First post so be gentle. I've just bought my first X5 - a March 06 3.0d which has the 16:9 display with TV, Bluetooth and a 6 cd changer in the boot. I wanted to find out if it was feasible to add satnav through the existing screen. I've tried searching here but without success. Hence would be ...
