Hi,
I've not connected it to ISTA again yet. On my small diagnostic tool I've got:
DTC
Brake Distribution
No CAN identification (EGS)
EGS Signal line disturbed
5EC5 DSC Steering Angle CAN
5F42 Limp mode
CF07 Transmission Control PT CAN
Not sure if you can see anything through these.
I've felt it's ...

OK, thanks. I won't be touching that then. I have an intermittent problem. Just driven 150km,no problems. Then 4x4 light comes on followed by Transfailsafe. Before, dealer changed the mechatronic socket. They said the transfer case was at fault. I've had that checked by a specialist, it works find ...

Replace Steering Angle Sensor
Hi,
Hope someone can help. E53 2006. About to change the SAS for a new one. I can understand how to physically change it, but do I need to do anything with software Before I change it or just use the software afterwards to calibrate it?

Hi Henry,
I've checked all my diagnostic print outs. The SAS appears on all, except for the one that was clear. On the SAS fault it also indicated a short circuit. I'll open up the kick plate and see it there's a denuded wire. I've got to say, I had the SAS changed 2 years ago, but I've lost ...

Hi,
I thought I was being a bit optimistic. So, I had the 4x4 light come on, but no Transfailsafe. Scanned it to find it's a SAS fault. I've ordered a new one. However today, I got 4x4 and Transfailsafe. Stopped, restarted, all cleared. Can it be a fault in the SAS causing a lot of this? The new ...

Chaps, I can't thank you enough. Drove another 50km today with no warning lights. Scanned the car before I drove, she'd load of faults. Erased all and took the car for a drive. Returned home, scanned again. No faults related to the transmission or transfer case. Yes it still has a code for glow plug ...

Well, I've put everything back on under the car. Just driven it for 10km. No warning lights. Ran a live test on the wheel sensors, all stayed within a kilomètre of each other. Obviously I need a longer road test. That really leaves the SAS to check, unless anyone can think of anything else?

Hi,
Yes the car was driving normally, then the 4x4 light came on, followed by the transfailsafe. I've thought all along that the problem is electrical. BMW diagnosed the transfer case, but I'd had no symptoms for a failing case. Over the last week, I've been chatting with a transfer case specialist ...

It was a bugger getting off. Tight to get your hand in. Got it off, sprayed it with contact cleaner. Once dry I've reassembled it. Fingers crossed.

Hi Greydog,
Thanks for your advice. Can I ask a rather naive question. I've just gone to check on the gearbox electronic connector. Should it be a really tight fit as this one seems to move a little, which seems very unusual for an electrical connection. I've not unscrewed it yet, it's not exactly ...

2006 transfer case transfailsafe
Thanks for the replies. I'm convinced it's not the TC but an electrical failure. Some more information: dealer originally diagnosed a leak on the gearbox electronic connector, changed it, Inc new oil, filter etc. 2 days later problem returns. In August I put a new alternator on (Bosch). Battery is ...

Hi, main dealer has diagnosed a problem with the transfer case, but when talking to a transfer case repair centre, they say that transfailsafe has nothing to do with the transfer case.
Can anyone confirm that or has anyone has a transfer case issue throw up transfailsafe?
