Crankshaft position sensor
Thought I’d post an update on the off chance someone else with the N62 needs to replace this part in the future. Thanks @X5Sport for the guidance, to clarify the sensor is located on the transmission bell housing. I found the best way to access the sensor is to jack the car up, put it on stands, ...

Crankshaft position sensor
Great, thank you again, at least it narrows it down to two possible specific places!
I’ll take a look over the weekend and hopefully find it…
Cheers,
Will

Crankshaft position sensor
For M57 diesel - Hidden down by the dipstick, single Allen screw holds it in. There should be wiring to it that you just need to pull off. My apologies I forgot to mention it’s the 4.8iS! I’ve seen some contrasting information on the location, either access it from the engine bay and strip some par ...

Hello all, Yesterday I had the EML come on and after being scanned it is showing the following codes: P0335 P2090 P1381 P1378 P0335 looks to be the crankshaft position sensor ‘A’ circuit. I have a new sensor on order but struggling to find any diagrams or videos on location of said sensor. Can any ...

Lighting issues: LCM / Cluster?
Thank you X5Sport & Dave, again I really appreciate your responses. I’ll go ahead and check the ground points when I’ve got some time and see if it makes any difference. If not, sounds like next step would be to get another diagnostics check to see if there are any greyed out modules. If still not ...

Lighting issues: LCM / Cluster?
Thanks Alan & Dave, appreciate your responses. I think I’ll go ahead and get it scanned again. Dave, with regards to the earth points, as mentioned I’m not too clued up with electronics. What specifically am I looking for? I’ve checked behind the glovebox for any signs of damage / water stains and th ...

Lighting issues: LCM / Cluster?
To add to the above. I have previously changed the brake light switch, and the clock spring with no avail. When the replacement LCM was coded, no other faults appeared (apart from an airbag fault which I believe was when the door handle carrier was replaced, it was cleared and no faults now present).

Lighting issues: LCM / Cluster?
Hi all, I have a 2005 4.8iS and currently experiencing some issues. Previously I noticed some water in the passenger footwell and found the sunroof drain was blocked. As a consequence of this I then noticed issues with the lighting. At first, my third brake light would permanently stay on (with ...

Brake lights stay on when engine off
Hi all, Relatively new here so hoping for advice. I have a 2005 4.8iS and over the past week noticed a peculiar issue. Sometimes (not always) when I turn the engine off and remove the key and lock the vehicle, I notice the rear brake lights stay illuminated. This has now happened a number of times ...
