The wifes more sore about it than I am, these things happen when rebuilding cars and I've not had anytime to dwell on it

M62 4.4i Stripdown
Sorry for the late reply, all is back together but all is not well. Finished rebuilding the engine and refitted it in the car, engine started up and runs nicely happy days. Then decided I best put some oil in the gearbox, got a couple litres in then it starts pouring out the join between engine and ...

Help from 4.4i owner to Id pipe
Hi all can anyone with a pre facelift 4.4i identify where the vacuum pipe that connects to the broken one my finger is pointing to goes to? Can't find it on realoem and can't see anything I've missed in engine bay
Thanks
Chris
Thanks

Re: 4.4i no start
Sorted it, turns out whoevers had it before me has put the fuel pump relay in the wrong socket, I've had to strip the fuse box to pieces and continuity test the pcb inside to find it though, fires first turn of the key now happy days.

4.4i no start
Hi all, after rebuilding my 4.4i m62 engine i got to the point of starting it and it doesn't want to go it just turns over, it fires on carb spray then cuts out. I tested the fuel pump relay and it operates correctly but there's no 12v at the fuel pump. Inpa shows an rpm reading whilst cranking so I ...

Re: Exhaust downpipe gasket
That's the sort of thing I mean yes but when I enter my vin there's nothing on the manifold page and the manifold is a different design.
I'm certain there was nothing fitted when I removed the engine which is why I think it must just be sealed with paste

Exhaust downpipe gasket
Hi all,
Does the 4.4i have a gasket between the exhaust manifold and downpipe? I can't find one on realoem but I'm surprised bmw rely on a tapered fit to be gas tight.
Thanks
Chris

Evans waterless coolant
Anyone ran Evans waterless coolant in their v8 x5? Considering it for my 4.4 given I've had the engine out of it the entire cooling system is empty so would be a good time to try it. It appeals due to the fact it doesn't pressurise the system which given burst or leaking hoses is a known issue is a ...

Re: M62 4.4i Stripdown
The coolant/oil mix is from while I've been stripping it, it was just oil and guide mush when I removed it, I've not been overly tidy whilst getting it stripped down and all the fluids out so they splashed around all over the tarpaulin everything's on. I suppose whoevers had it must of driven it ...

Re: M62 4.4i Stripdown
So, 'new' engine arrived tuesday after a bit of a delay including the seller having to borrow my engine crane so he could remove it  'Themoog2' here's a picture of the pressure washed engine bay for you, https://i.imgur.com/lFZu4po.jpg On tuesday I very quickly chucked it on my engine stand ...

Re: M62 4.4i Stripdown
Engines bays already been treated to a good scrub with paraffin and a jet wash its much more acceptable now, I'll get pictures at some point. I've managed to find an engine that should have a decent block, it's from a car being broken as the owner thought it had a snapped chain, it's actually ...

Re: M62 4.4i Stripdown
Not a massive dodge really, it was described as needing a new engine and it's turned out it does, I've sourced what should be a decent block that's getting delivered Monday along with a full headset and full timing chain kit and the coolant hoses I needed so currently I'm only a power steering hose ...
