Re: Pairing BT with HTC
Martyn this issue of the OBC showing "Please Wait" is not unusual for some of the new generation phones, my wife has the same problem with her Nokia E7 which has the new generation Symbian OS, whereas my iphone works perfect I believe the problem here is a technical one in which the phones bluetooth ...

Re: Finally - a new owner of an X5!
Thanks for all the supportive comments everyone - appreciate it. I seem to find myself looking for any excuse to drive the thing and always seem to be reluctant to hand over the reigns to the missus! Was going to take some pics yesterday but the car looks really filthy (black really does bring out ...

Finally - a new owner of an X5!
Hooray –after a long patient search (lasting a good 6 months) for my perfect E53 I’ve finally gone and bought one! I am now the proud and happy owner of a 2005 3.0d in Carbon Black, with all the options I was looking for (Comms Pack, heated leather seats etc.) and more. Picked the car up a couple ...

Re: Buying - X5 with high mileage & several owners
Thanks for the tips AW8 and Tombs (thanks Tom for the glasses guide) – you’ve been a great help  Unfortunately, things didn’t turn out as I expected with this car, fur coat no knickers comes to mind! Whilst viewing the car (and thanks to all your tips AW8) spotted some issues leading ...

Re: Buying - X5 with high mileage & several owners
Cheers AW8 for the comprehensive response – sounds like you’re giving me a right telling off! Probably deserved though given my amateurish questions and approach! I didn’t specifically tell the seller about the forum, all I mentioned was that I had done a fair amount of research on the internet ...

Re: Buying - X5 with high mileage & several owners
Just spoke to the seller who tells me the BT module is there with a label stating BT ULF and the bluetooth passkey, yet there's no option for BT on the dash screen display - any ideas what the problem is here? Possible loose connection in the wiring? Seller also advised that the service indicator is ...

Re: Buying - X5 with high mileage & several owners
Thanks CondorX5 - that's exactly what I thought and conveyed to the seller. I've asked seller to check so just awaiting return phone call, fingers crossed the BT module is there and it's simply a loose connection issue or something (hence no BT option on screen display)
Wish me luck!

Re: Buying - X5 with high mileage & several owners
AW8 – you’re a star, your advice is much appreciated Have always been concerned about the stress on the engine whilst towing hence my initial anxiety, don’t actually know if it’s had a towbar it’s just that the covering panel is missing... Checked out prices for brake pads and as you said A ...

Re: Buying - X5 with high mileage & several owners
Big thanks AW8 and X555 for the advice Just an update for those interested - saw the car today and was left fairly happy with it to be honest. Seller seems genuine, car was used as a ferry around by the wife for the kids, only driven around 6k miles since purchased. Drivers and passenger seat ...

Buying - X5 with high mileage & several owners
Hi All - hope everyone is enjoying the sunny weekend I've had some excellent advice from several people on this forum relating to whether I ought to be looking at a petrol or diesel X5. So whilst having a quick gander on the usual places I spotted a 2004 facelift 4.4i, comes with around 85000 miles ...

Re: X5 3.0i or 3.0d?
Thanks everyone once again - each with different yet valid views I think I'm going to keep my options open and stick to either the 4.4i or 3.0d facelift in my search, whichever comes along first at the right price with the right spec. Glad I came here and posed the question, this issue was bugging ...

Re: X5 3.0i or 3.0d?
Thanks again AW8 - some really interesting points, thanks also to CondorX5 and Jalf You've really given me food for thought and the positive noises of the V8 have really got me thinking (thought I'd made my mind up!). I try and talk to the missus about these things but I think she is truly sick of ...
