Quick follow up. Cable didnt snap, it did release the bonnet but the hinge was dried out and catching on one side and not functioning correctly.
I recommend everyone to thoroughly grease their hinges every year.

Also could someone be super nice and take a picture of the location of the hood cable junction box so I know where to aim for if I take the wheel arch liner off

Bonnet cable snapped
Sigh :cry: Went to open the bonnet and nothing. I can hear the cable making a noise under the bonnet so it has obviously snapped or come off at the junction box area at a guess under the bonnet. Any ideas how I can get this hood open now? It's completely shut and the lever does nothing :o 58 E70 3.0 ...
