henrym3 - You are quite correct in the "Other Things" that need sorting lol. The head unit is on the list, but not until after xmas I think. Need to get the autobox oil done next before anything else...

Good morning all I own a 2002 X5 E53. Only had it a month and loving it, but I really feel that the original audio system (Business with Tape!) needs updating. I'm after any and all advice really. Recommendations, what to watch for, don't does etc As above it has business edition with tape and 6 CD ...

It's a local transmission specialist that will be doing the oil change and Diff oil change.
He's previously done my Merc auto box, with good results.

No No No. Use BMW ATF or ZF. Likewise with the filter. Expensive, but it’s not like you’ll be doing it again soon. Unfortunately you’ve waited till you got problems before changing. If your lucky new oil will cure but don’t hold your breath. Sorry to be blunt. Of course mine is one several opinions ...

With 136k miles on the clock, and no evidence of my newly purchased X5 3.0d, i'm also looking at having the transmission fluid changed as there are a few gearbox issues going on.
Can the Diff and transmission not be filled with the bog standard red ATF?
