Sorted, I bought some 4mm id hose from Halfords for £3 (theres 2.9m left!), tied a knot in it and pushed that on. Guess it was blanked off but its shot off.
For info, water just shot out the end of the hose fitting prior to adding the knotted tube.

New to me x5 LCI, blocked washer jets, I noticed water firing out the side of the bonnet.. On inspection, it's like on the last nozzle (passenger side), there's a male hose connector on the right side of the nozzle as you look at it with the bonnet up, where I'd expect an elbow.
