Re: 4.0d e70 dpf regeneration criteria?
The usual giveaway is when you pull up and switch off all the under-bonnet fans are running flat out. This prevents the heat from the regen damaging anything.....and with the front wings being plastic you need to keep the heat down! They should switch off within about 10 minutes ...

Re: Anyone used spacers on winter wheels to give staggered look?
I use spacers on my fronts with winter wheels. Run without issue for the last couple of seasons.

Re: Non run-flat tyres
Just fitted Michelin Latitude Sport 3s on my 20". Fantastic. Nice and supple compared to the run flats. £820 from blackcircle fitted.
I've run non RF winters for 4+ years with no issues.

I've got the X6 wheels, had them bored for £10/wheel. Now have a nice staggered winter setup.

I'm finding the 20" summers (RFT) wear faster than the 19" winters.

Re: Looking to buy my first X5
The F15 X5 hasn't really moved the game on that much, it's the same weight, similar engines etc .. so I think that's helping with the residuals for the E70. I'm expecting the next gen (rumoured to be coming in after 5yrs and not 7 as previously) to be radically more efficient.

Re: BMW X5 40d M Sport 2012 Wheel Change Question
I swap over every winter too. I have a set of X6 wheels (rears were bored to fit X5) with Vredestien winter tyres and have no issues swapping them over. I never touch the pressure warning , it must sort things out automatically. I've driven through a lot of deep snow in the Alps and the car has ...

Re: Outstanding MPG
LCI 30d , over 37K miles averaging 32.4mpg via OBC.
Did a 200 mile run last weekend with 5 passengers, some of it 7 passengers, averaged 36mpg. I use the ACC a lot, which was set to 72mph.

Re: 20" RFT poor ride quality
I will have to change all four in the next month or so. I was adament on changing to non-RFT, but after having a rapid deflation on a French autoroute (on my non-RFT winter tyres) this winter and getting lucky that an exit was within a mile, I'm thinking again! I've also read that on the X5, the ...

Re: ConnectedDrive
Thanks guys. If it was much less than the £120 then I may have kept it. Just seems very expensive. It was mainly the web radio/spotify which interested me but no doubt another expensive add on.
I came to the same conclusion, £120 for send to car wasn't worth it. I do miss t ...

I should have also said that if your going throught the tank quickly check for leaks. This seems to occur too often.

Re: Windscreen washer reservoir runs out really quickly
I too just suffered same blocking issue. Tank is only accessible by removing wheel and trim. Based on advice on another forum I blasted compressed air down the hose (there's a connector just as the supply pipe goes into the engine bay) which unblocked the line. I then flushed out the tank.
