Crank no start
Well I took the X5 out today after eventually selling the Audi Q7 (see other thread I did) and it performed ok. It’s like an old glove that I just get in and go. It feels very similar to the Audi which was 10 years younger apart from heavier steering. In front of me in some traffic was an Audi RS6 e ...

Ah well. It fired right up first time this evening. I asked it if it wanted new plugs and it said “no, go and drink beer”. So I am..

Crank no start
Hmm.. You know what - I haven't changed the air filter or spark plugs for a while.. 2015 when the timing chain was done. Guilty as charged. In my defence it's only done about 30k miles since then and has always started first time and ran sweetly. I actually have a brand new set of plugs in the ...

Yes but why would it flood? Surely bmw wouldn’t design an engine that you can’t run for say a minute or two then it won’t start a few days later..

Crank no start
Who said 2 short runs flooded it.. Turned the key with my foot flat down and just let it crank. Eventually it popped and spluttered back to life with a smoky exhaust. I've left it running for 1/2 hour to let it sort itself out. Looks like the wife flooded it. Better chain her back to the kitchen ...

Ah the two short drives to next door then back. I didn't even think about that.
I've got the back seat up now anyway so may as well carry on..

Crank no start
I found a YouTube video by 50skid and he runs through complete diagnostics of the E53 fuel pump. Something that concerns me tho is when I turn it over it doesn’t make that ‘ugh ugh ugh ugh’ sound - it’s much smoother like a turbine. Almost like there is no compression.. Saying that, I have never hear ...

Crank no start
Two days ago the wife moved the X5 (01 4.4i) from our driveway to the neighbour for photos of the house to be taken , then she put it back. Today I go to start it and it runs really rough for maybe 5- 10 seconds then cut out. It will not restart but turns over. I’ve noticed that I can’t hear the fue ...

Advice on engine failure..
Well that's the plan when I get potential buyers on any of the cars. I'm not allowing any more than 2 persons on the driveway and myself and someone else who I know will be on them at all times. I will make them aware that they are being recorded on cctv as well. The wife drove 200 miles in it today ...

£400 is £2000 cheaper than the garage originally started quoting at.. The wife’s happy and that’s all that matters.

Advice on engine failure..
Update. A ha! I have the Audi back. Nothing wrong with it at all. So, dirty oil was poured into the coolant tank, one injector was unplugged and also the air flow meter was unplugged but left looking like it was connected. Oh, and dirty oil squirted up the exhaust tailpipes. I’ve driven it about 80 m ...

We have Ring cctv cameras around the property but I didn’t know that default recording history length is 30 days so nothing is on them. I’ve set them to 180 days now.
Just a side question- is ok to advertise the cars next time and state that certain types of individuals or groups are not welcome?

Advice on engine failure..
Right.. We bought it from a dealer in Chalfont St Giles in April to replace the Discovery. The moment it was delivered the wife wasn't sure (!) so I thought sod it I'll list both the audi and the Discovery to see which sells first. The Audi was the fist to get a call. The dealer who sold it to us ...

Yes it’s amazing. Not confirmed as yet but all the circumstantial evidence points to it.
