Re: Woke up to x5 unlocked + windows and sunroof open

Thanks guys, The X5 was locked last night and the key hung up in its usual place. So no chance of it being the remote. The battery is new, so I'm hoping it's not that. Trans fail safe message has gone after turning ignition on, put accelerator pedal down for 30 secs then brake pedal down for 10 secs ...

Woke up to x5 unlocked + windows and sunroof open

Hi guys! My 4.6is has been running perfectly for the past 6 weeks or so, after numerous jobs being done by my local indy BMW garage. Something a little concerning happened this morning. I woke up to find it unlocked, all the windows down and the sunroof open. Any ideas what could have caused this ...

Re: Trans and diff fluid - How much is needed?

Thanks guys, I'm going to go the whole hog and get the timing chain guides and tensioner replaced while I'm at it.

Any advice?

Thanks.

Now..lol I'm having issues with the passenger door, I can unlock it with the fob but have to lock it manually. I'm think the actuator needs replacing, what you think guys? Thanks for all ...

Re: Possible electrical issues with the e53 4.6is

Been having a few issues installing 1.4.0 to my laptop, so decided to have a full diagnostic done again at my local BMW specialist. They were unable to run a full diagnostic test due to the system only being able to read 2 of the 9 modules. They've said that they would need it for 3 days to work ...

Re: Possible electrical issues with the e53 4.6is

Tell me about it. :(

SM is to the right of PRND on the dash. I think it stands for Sport/Manual. I've not never moved the gear stick over to use this option, so not sure why it's coming on.

Re: Possible electrical issues with the e53 4.6is

Hi guys, the connections at the back of the cluster seem fine. Received 1.4.0, just need to set it up. It's constantly in a limpish mode, so can't wait to get to the bottom of this. Something very odd did happen yesterday, after braking at a junction SM flashes up on the dash and there was an ...

Re: Possible electrical issues with the e53 4.6is

Hi guys! I had the abs module refurbed and it's back on. Unfortunately now not only do I still have the trifecta, the rev counter doesn't work and the water and oil temp are at the max from a cold start.

Any ideas?

Re: Possible electrical issues with the e53 4.6is

Something I probably should have mentioned, is that I had the pixels fixed on the cluster 4-5 wks ago... Soooo, we decided to take the X5 to an independent BMW specialist for a diagnosis. Nothing came up. They popped the cluster out, and one of the plugs had come loose (head in hand moment, why didn ...

Re: Possible electrical issues with the e53 4.6is

Hi Greydog,

The garage that diagnosed the abs sensors were unable to remove the codes.. Very odd.

Can i ask where you got your BMW 1.4.0? I'm after a reliable source. Seen some online but reviews have said that there has been viruses etc on the disc.

Thanks again.
