Re: Wing mirror protector/guard

Ah right thanks. Hmm I have never been on the site but will have a look. I have done a fair bit of Google searching but cannot find anything suitable so far I know people really are, I had to really swallow hard when I saw the mark on the wing mirror. Hmm any other help would be appreciated. I was ...

Does anyone have any suggestions as to where i can buy these to fit a second gen X5 wing mirror?

Steering wheel lock (for 2011 E70 X5)

I have decided to not go down the tracker route but instead buy one of these for peace of mind for my 2011 X5, given it will be parked on the road by my house. Does anyone have any recommendations, and ones which the lock does not mark or damage the steering wheel? I have had a look on Halfords and ...

Re: X5 2011 4.0D - thoughts pls?

You do have a point, but one also has to draw the line at some point in terms of budget and cost! £1,200 is a lot per annum to pay for a warranty (plus £250 excess) for me anyway it is! Your absolutely right that it only takes one major claim and then you've made money back so to speak. Noted on the ...

Re: X5 2011 4.0D - thoughts pls?

Fair question. My answer is a lower mileage car is always better than higher mileage in my opinion, subject to FSH etc. There are always if's and buts, however thats the way I have always bought my cars. Not for everyone I know and it leaves me buying less extras too (rather than a higher mileage ...

Re: X5 2011 4.0D - thoughts pls?

Well it states this car has been serviced only by BMW, so one cannot ask anymore than that I guess, right? We certainly would be doing a few longer journeys each year. 1 to Scotland, 1 to Devon and then a few to Bucks and Oxford as well as some Surrey visits. In addition to some driving in London ...

Re: X5 2011 4.0D - thoughts pls?

Wow :o - really helpful to know that info, thank you! Can I ask how you found this out? Anything else in the history I need to be aware of? I think the car has run flats. Yes I would want to maintain the car as best as I can. It would be doing around 3,500 miles a year I reckon, certainly under 5 ...

Re: X5 2011 4.0D - thoughts pls?

It is based over 200 miles away but I will need to test it first, as then need to get a tracker fitted to it before I can even drive it away! New MOT when I buy it too. 3 month warranty included with W Wise (not sure how good they are)! It doesn't have loads of extras, agreed. Heated seats it does ...

X5 2011 4.0D - thoughts pls?

Hi there I am strongly considering buying this car, click on below link. It looks clean, has the 'ideal' engine (in my humble opinion) and the powered tailgate extra I think is very handy for the wife (not that she knows that yet)! I can negotiate on the price. https://www.autotrader.co.uk ...

Re: Tracker advice

I v much doubt the car I buy will even come with keyless ignition but good to know regardless.

Come to think of it, I recall I did a quick search on Amazon to see the product out of interest too.

Re: Tracker advice

Yes heard about comfort access etc on a different forum! Not an extra I would like it seems! I see a lot of smart RR with wheel locks on them!  Special wallet or metal tin is needed regardless of comfort access right?

Re: Tracker advice

The only other insurer which came close was admiral but even they wanted a tracker! If I didn’t install one, their premium would increase about £200. Both Aviva and Admiral said these cars are highly desirable by thieves and are frequently stolen!! Not really want I want to hear when I’m looking at s ...

Re: Tracker advice

I’ve done a money super market.com search and Aviva are looking pretty good in comparison. Plus I get 20% off as a current member.
