Re: ULF wiring vs TCU
The factory fitted TCU had failed (the Motorola units like mine were notoriously unreliable btw) - so I fitted a Gen 13 ULF - all sweet now but not plug and play as you have to rewire the 54 pin plug

Re: ULF wiring vs TCU
No - VR is built in on the later ULFs- any ULF with "mit ses" on the label has VR capability - may not be factory-enabled but readily sorted via DIS or a Resler I/F. No jumper plugs on the facelift E53s BTW

ULF wiring vs TCU
Blu-tooth installation conked years ago - just got around to having a look - fault seems to be no 'telephone on' signal from the TCU to the BM54 so the BM54 does not enable the front speakers during a call - they can hear you, you can't hear them. Decided to get the phone working again and fit a ULF ...

Re: Central locking
The key fob contains a rechargeable button cell the holder of which is soldered to the internal PCB - inevitably it eventually fails. You can get a repair kit off ebay for about £15 comprising a case, new rechargeable cell - and three new button microswitches. To access the PCB from the old key you ...

Wiring a Resler interface
I am in the process of preparing to install an Intravee II and i-pod interface via the Alpine i-pod module. To this end I have made up a three-legged harness (using BMW supplied iBus cable lengths, pins and socket cases) one leg to connect my made up harness to the my vehicle's IBus plug as used by ...

Re: Front heated seats failure
Similar problem here with the front seat heaters. Rears are working fine, but when I switch on the driver or passenger side it blows the fuse immediately. I suspect it's a loose connection in the wiring or heating elements and that will take some hunting down :(
If it helps ...

Re: Front heated seats failure
It may have been tried, but try disconnecting the battery for a few mins and reconnecting. May reset it for you. If not at least its free to try it !!!!
Thanks - you got it in one. I actually pulled all the fuses associated with the heaters and the control panel, left ...

Re: Front heated seats failure
Thanks - I have had a search but can't find any solution on co-incident failure of the heater on both front seats - the common factor I suspect is a failure within the control module that incorporates the heater switches

Front heated seats failure
Both front heated seats have stopped working today - push either button, the three green LEDs light and then a second later, go out. The fuses are OK and all the electric seat movement functions are OK.
Any suggestions anyone?

Re: My 1st x5, what have i done!!!!. There is so many faults with this car
"Noise from behind heater control when car is turned off" - does this stop if you wait a while? If not:- 1. check if it is the blower running at low speed (this can be caused by the final stage resistor which you say you have replaced - with new?) - to do this, pull the 50 amp blower fuse - if the ...
