Re: Transmission Failsafe
Maybe look at popping it into someone who specialises in gearboxes for their take on it. Gloucester Road gearboxes in Bristol could do you a full dialysis fluid change at the same time which is always a good move with an auto box. Or if starting in neutral works for you call it character and ignore ...

Re: X5 Stolen from outside my house
Where did you buy it from? Not unheard of for the people selling to be linked to the later theft. My Range Rover was stolen after service at main dealer. One of the technicians was selling keys and address to less than honest mates who would then come and remove car quietly in the middle of the ...

Re: E53 X5 Accelera Iota Tyres - any good??
I would not expect Nexen to have any higher risk of screwing your diff than any other tyre. The Land Rover users also talk of diff issues different tread depths winding things up and so do XC90 users. Having run Nexens for years on all of these with no problems I will continue to. Of course my X5 ...

Re: E53 X5 Accelera Iota Tyres - any good??
I have been running nexen for years on a variety of our cars. They are currently on our S class merc and discovery 3. Were on our corvette as well. Never had a problem give good mileage and for normal road use performance is excellent. They also come with a puncture warranty but that may just be our ...

August 12 Gaydon BMW festival
August the 12 is the BMW festival which takes place at the Jaguar/Land Rover testing ground at Gaydon. We will be going along to look around the museum and see what other cars are at the show. If any other Xdrivers are going let us know and we can maybe meet up. Details here https://www ...

Re: should i buy a diesel or not
For only 5K a year I would go V8. Lovely sound and just accept that at some point in the future you will most likely do the guides. Plan to do them preemptively. I don’t know if the current worry over diesels will change or not but our local ford dealership has said the only diesels they are selling ...

Re: 4.8 V8 economy
Not certain what the BMW system is like as I have not bothered to test it on my X5. When doing brim to brim tests of MPG over several tanks of gas in other marques I have owned the dash indication has always seemed a little optimistic. May have to give it a go over the next month. My 4.4 disco 3 is ...

Re: 4.8 V8 economy
I tend to think in terms of “smiles per gallon” rather than mpg. This car will never be for those seeking economy, I guess if you are lucky you may get 17mpg but then maybe I am too pessimistic. I am sure others who have this model will be along soon. I remember Clarkson driving the X5 “that’s a gall ...

Re: A warning or an Opportunity & Goodbye
Well hopefully they will learn to redact the personal details Name and first line or two of address and then be happy to let paperwork go with the car. Having receipts for work done specifically listing details on an invoice is worth money when selling. This is especially true when work is other ...

Re: A warning or an Opportunity & Goodbye
Glad to hear you are sorted with the disposal. I did not realise that the new data laws would have the effect of not allowing old invoices to go with a car. Do you know if that can be waived by the seller as I have always liked to buy a vehicle with such history and sell mine on likewise? Doesn’t e ...

Re: New E83 3.0Si Owner
Hello and welcome, Loving the colour it really suits the shape of the car. I am sure you will soon be enjoying the comfort of the ride and the higher seating position simply means you will spot things over walls and hedges you have not seen before. We take friends out who own low sports cars and you ...

If you keep it it will continue to cost a fortune.
If you sell it the next owner will do 250,000 miles without spending a penny. Such is life.
