Re: X3 E83 2.0d 2005 Running problem
Well, It's all sorted now. The problem was with the vacuum actuator that operates the swirl flaps, I'm assuming that the diaphragm that moves the arm must have a hole or something. I tested it with my MityVac and couldn't get a vacuum. Luckily I had a spare lying around, I tested the spare and it ...

Re: X3 E83 2.0d 2005 Running problem
It looks like the small vacuum hoses are 3.5mm ID, with a wall thickness of 2mm. I've found some silicon vacuum hose with an ID of 3mm and the same 2mm wall thickness. Hopefully that should do the trick.

Re: X3 E83 2.0d 2005 Running problem
Thanks for the reply Alan,
I'll check on Real OEM today and see what information I can get from it. I'm off work tomorrow so hopefully I can get the intake manifold off and
check the vacuum pipes for any loose or broken hoses.

Re: X3 E83 2.0d 2005 Running problem
I have a question for anyone that knows the vacuum system on these cars. I have a MityVac vacuum pump, I was under the impression that if I disconnected the hose to the EGR valve, and connected the MityVac to the hose and created a vacuum, the vacuum should be constant until I release the pressure ...

Re: X3 E83 2.0d 2005 Running problem
Does anyone happen to know the ID of the various vacuum hoses on the E83?
Haven't had time to check them yet, but it might be good to find a supply of the correct size, in case I find a leak.

X3 E83 2.0d 2005 Running problem
Hi, I'm having a few problems with my car. If I'm below 2000 rpm the engine is quite hesitant (fine above that). Also the engine sound like it's hunting at ticker. I had a look around the internet on various sites, and I think it may be a MAF issue? I disconnected the connection from the MAF whilst ...

Thanks for the reply,
I've got access to some tools that should aid getting the driveshaft out and pulled back in. I'll have a look at Bubasparks thread you mentioned.

2005 X3 E83 2.0d OS Rear Reluctor Ring
Hi, I had the usual 4x4, ABS etc lights come on last Sunday whilst driving into town, when going up the multi-storey car park the car was lurching every time I turned hard left. I parked the car up and went to meet some friends for a few beers. Picked up the car the following day and there were no ...

Re: 2005 X3 E83 2.0d DSC fault code
Thanks for the replies, The car doesn't have a tow bar fitted, not sure if it has had one in the past. I did read on another site that someone had the same code fault and was advised that it was the ABS speed sensors. I plugged a Foxwell code reader into it yesterday evening as they can read the ...

2005 X3 E83 2.0d DSC fault code
Hi, I'm down to one last fault code on my car. the error code is 005F1E and it appears to be something to do with the dynamic stability control. The fault explanation (from Carly) is "disabled trailer roll logic about EEPROM: variant coding: info entry" Does anyone have any idea what this means, or ...

Re: 2005 X3 E83 2.0d Lambda problem
Just changed the oxygen sensor, cleared the fault codes and went for a 10 mile drive. Read the codes when I got back and no oxygen sensor faults.
So that's another job ticked off the list, just got to get the snapped glow plug out and the fan sorted, then the car should be perfect.......

Re: 2005 E83 X3 cooling fan on all the time the engine is running
The problem has now changed, the fan now doesn't come on at all, but will spin if I turn on the A/C. So the fan is still getting power, but it doesn't seem to kick in to cool the engine down. I read somewhere that the fan should spin on start for a short time as a system check. Is this correct? Mine ...

Re: 2005 X3 E83 2.0d Lambda problem
Well, the Foxwell didn't give me any more information, so I've decided to just change it anyway and see if the error codes disappear. So my next question is, what is the best way to get to the Oxygen sensor from inside the engine bay? I looked on RealOEM and it looks line I have one oxygen sensor ...
