Another water leak question

Great, many thanks, I'll pass this on to the garage.

Another water leak question

My garage has identified the causes of slow water leakage on the M54 3.0 as a) radiator and b) power steering cooling unit, and both these components will be replaced when the latter part arrives from Germany (mid-Jan 2022). I've heard the water pump is known to fail, so I was wondering if it's ...

Nearside door mirror kerb view when reversing (RHD)

Car as below. I think the above facility looks quite useful, and I don't appear to have it on my car. However I haven't found it easy to get the full story on this. Was it a separate option (I have #313)? Only for certain countries? Certain years? Programmable? I have tried the L <-> R toggle on the ...

Re: Starter issue

Thanks for comments.
I seem to have lost my sig when the board was restructured. It was/is:
X3 2004 3.0i SE
Will see what garage says. The part(s) don't seem to expensive, but the work involved seems big.

Starter issue

On turning to start, nothing happening at all, won't turn over; no clicking sound or any noise at all. Battery/electricals are fine. AA man suggested starter/solenoid. Looked at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WUTUxa89W68 and replacement seems like a real stinker of a job. Anyone been there, done ...

Re: North Coast 500

Lovely countryside up there. The days there will be getting rather short, as it is a relatively high latitude, so an early start is advisable!

Dornoch well worth a vist, also Eillan Donan castle, Dunrobin castle (if open).

Re: Speed limit to be cut to 20mph in central London

On the actual achieved vs average speed point above, during the night the roads are generally pretty clear and speeds in excess of 20mph and below 30/40mph are entirely safe and reasonable on the broader carriageways. The RAC did point this out and proposed that the limit be raised at these times ...

Re: Speed limit to be cut to 20mph in central London

Indeed as X5Sport says, in a very clearly signposted 20mph zone I have been aggressively tailgated and flashed to speed up by clearly visually-challenged morons. However, these days an attempt to point out the rules might result in bonkers road rage, stabbing, acid attack and God knows what :(

Speed limit to be cut to 20mph in central London

https://www.standard.co.uk/news/transport/key-roads-in-central-london-to-have-20mph-speed-limit-by-2020-a3894621.html I am pretty dubious about this; a previous similar exercise lead to precisely the opposite of the desired outcome: https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2017/12/17/20mph-limit-dangerous ...

Re: London 'T' charge

Just FTR, the ULEZ extension has gone through (subject to legislation etc). The ULEZ on-line vehicle checker is at:
https://tfl.gov.uk/modes/driving/ultra- ... ecker-ulez
I found it now says my car passes the standard, whereas previous it didn't, FWIW.

Passenger door mirror...

...isn't heating or moving. The original option code is 313 "Exterior Mirror Package", and FWIW I have heated seats with manual adjustment. The RHS mirror does not appear to have electric folding. So I think I need the 5-wire version? Looking at a few breakers' spares on the 'bay, and some guides on ...
