Had the same problem with the struts and after catching the top of my head on the sharp corner I bit the bullet and ordered new ones £79.99 on eBay. Absolute doddle to replace, took 10 minutes and all you need is a small spade screwdriver (check out YouTube video). The difference was amazing, well ...
