Farewell X5, it has been fun owning you but time to move on.
Just a quick, and final post, to say that now the caravan is up for sale (see Caravan Talk forum, for sale notices, same ID) and I'm well into retirement I have traded by lovely X5 in for a new Golf Estate, primarily for the two Golden Retrievers and to save dwindling pension! You have all been ...

Re: Passenger front door button
@sleepfolk: Doesn't sound silly at all, thanks for the suggestion. I'll have a closer look when I next unlock the car although I haven't noticed the trim move. But you never know!

Passenger front door button
I have an irritating fault with my 2006 3.0d LeMansBlue that has been there since I bought the car a couple of years ago but it is high time I addressed it. The front passenger door lock button doesn't go down when the doors lock. I can push it down and it will pop with all the others when unlocked ...

Re: redundant satnav / cd changer causing flat battery?
To bring this thread to a close I have my car back and the battery drain issue has been solved. It seems that when the additional caravan leisure battery charge and fridge power lines were put in they each have a relay (located in the offside cubby) in the loom. Their purpose is to detect the extra ...

Re: redundant satnav / cd changer causing flat battery?
Update: mechanic working on my car spoke to tow-bar mechanic on phone who talked him through some "adjustments" that seem to have done the trick! Who would have thought? The plan now is to leave it overnight to confirm one way or the other in the morning. Fingers crossed.

Re: redundant satnav / cd changer causing flat battery?
OK, getting somewhere now. My Indy garage mechanic has identified the drain (0.3 amps) from a component in the tow-bar electrics. Now that is starting to make sense as last year I had a local tow-bar fitting company "upgrade" my tow-bar electrics to add the fridge and leisure battery charging when ...

Re: redundant satnav / cd changer causing flat battery?
@henrym3 Thank you. I had an inkling that might be the case as for almost 2 years I haven't had a problem. Oh well The task will be for the Indy mechanic to find, the PITA will end up in my wallet no doubt. 30 years of BMW and they have been a loyal friend. Guess I'll have to take this one on the ...

Re: redundant satnav / cd changer causing flat battery?
Thank you. Hadn't thought of that! I assumed I would need to remove them to get to the cables, so I'd probably not bother replacing them. I'm going to contact the Indy first thing tomorrow (Monday) since they had the car for a flat battery in the first place and replaced it as it was due a full ...

redundant satnav / cd changer causing flat battery?
Hi, not posted for a while but my X5 E53 2006 3.0d LeMansBlue has started to flatten the battery and I was wondering if the CD changer and satnav units in the nearside boot cubby are the cause. Couple of years ago had the Dynavin N6 unit professionally installed incorporating its own satnav and ...

Re: Yet another (I'm sure) audio unit advice request
Resurrecting this post to give a quick shout out to John at Car-Vision who fitted my Dynavin system in June last year. This week the rear view camera that I also had as an extra at the same time failed with a reversed, discoloured and corrupted image. My guess is it was a dozy member of the drive ...

Re: I need a measurement.
Have you considered the practicality (not considering the cost!) of a general purpose trailer? I have one of these: https://www.phoenixtrailer.co.uk/product-category/general-trailers-box-trailers/. It came with a fully waterproof cover and has been ideal for 101 jobs since I bought it (initially to ...

Re: Change OBC settings without OEM computer?
Thank you all. That’s really helpful. Two more questions: firstly a daft one, I had the Dynavin fitted professionally and I can’t for the life of me see how to remove it from the dash, unlike the original that had screws when the cassette bit was raised. Do I just tease it out with trim tools? Se ...

Change OBC settings without OEM computer?
Did a search but couldn't find a thread. Since having the Dynavin N6 system fitted to my 06 3.0d Le Mans Blue I don't seem to have any way to change the settings in the speedo/revcounter binnacle. When I got the car it had a failing screen BMW original radio/satnav/obc but that is now in the Dynavin ...

The Caravan Talk forum is awash with threads concerning BMW X5 additional cooling Q and A as well as the rights and wrongs of breakaway cable attachments. Re: Yet another (I'm sure) audio unit advice request
Ta... i know most if not all Android based systems don't support pre amp or amp hence the question. It would be good to know how he did Dynavin system (eg connect to the unit while bypassing the amps). Thx
Give Joe a call, the number is on their CarVision website. You ...
