Re: Swapping my 40d with a 40e
After 15 miles ( & at all times)the electric motor is still charged by the ICE/regeneration on braking & coasting so will function and/ or help at higher speeds;when I renewed my tax this year on a 3/16 registered car it was still nil .The 15 miles is the electric only range which varies on driving ...

Re: Swapping my 40d with a 40e
I think that most non PHEV hybrids have an electric range of about 1 mile;most of my trips are under 15 miles, often with charging at both ends, so it makes perfect sense for my type of use;it is less useful on longer journeys as the ICE is dragging batteries around, although the electric motor does ...

Re: Swapping my 40d with a 40e
The pros are are great fuel efficiency & performance & in my case no VED (being registered in 3/16).I think that I read somewhere that the cost of a full charge from the mains is about £1 but I may be wrong on that. I obtain about 15 miles on electric, although it seems the decrease with colder ...

Re: F15 40d v 50d
I don't know about a 50d but I moved to a 40e from an E61 M5 & have found the performance fine;the electric motor is great for moving off & it helps the ICE at high speeds.

Re: Swapping my 40d with a 40e
With the "bad press" that diesels are receiving I can't see it depreciating faster than them in the medium to long term.

Re: Real world mpg
I achieve about 70mpg on short journeys with my 40e plugged in at both ends;longer trips are late 30s.

Re: Swapping my 40d with a 40e
I've had my 40e for exactly a year & the mpg is unbelievable.I've visited the petrol station twice this year,in contrast to my previous car, a E61 M5.It is best for frequent short trips with charging ideally at both ends although even on long journeys the battery helps with economy.I would recommend ...

Re: 40e M Sport - battery loses charge if left charged and unplugged
I've owned mine since new in April 2016 & often leave it fully charged & unused for a few days. Its always retained a full charge so there seems to be something amiss with yours. I hope that it gets sorted out.
