Well thought I would update this, looked at a few X5s just after my original post and also test drove a 4.0d . Lovely car to drive albeit quite stiff suspension. Was a 12 plate with surround cameras etc and most options fitted. Maybe not the best example to see but there were a few on the forecourt ...

Just for info I looked at one of these the other week as an approved used buy. Showed exactly what has been described. Sales man was very apologetic and that it would be looked at and repaired  if I was going to buy the car. Other X5s not showing similar on his forecourt but this one stuck out a mile.
