Change the fluids first before you panic...
I had the exact same thing with mine when I bought it. It was a AUC and the first thing they did was change the tc fluid.
20k+ miles later not a hint of a problem

Re: E70 Humming Noise
Same problem here.. most noticable when lifting off around 50mph..
Dealer put it down to tyres... I've had no problem other than it's irritating for about 10k miles with it

Had mine back at the dealership yesterday for the same shudder...
Next stage is to replace the oil and failing that a transfer case..
Thankfully mine is an AUC

Think that was the whole lamp...
Mine wouldn't open the shutter when going to full beam..
Thankfully I got it covered under extended warranty

Re: Front lights
I almost had to buy a new adaptive xenon headlight about 2 years ago.
Price was £950+vat new if I recall...
Regular xenon was about 750 I think.. both pre LCI

Re: Looking at 35d and 40d but are they worth extra money
I did holyhead to penrith return recently (500 miles) and managed 28mpg.
It was pretty much all at 120kmh (75 mph) so it's not too bad for a heavy bus...

Lift off over-whine
It's an odd one..
I bought a 12 plate AUC 40d E70 a few weeks ago..
I've noticed that if I lift off at about 50mph there is what I can best describe as a whine... It does change pitch with speed (but only slightly). It's there a little under acceleration I think
My gut feeling is/was its the new ...
