Re: XDrivers Meet 2016
Not a whole lot of votes so I think we should start encouraging the forum members to vote for participation. We need to end all posts with the words 'Show your support for the meet in May' and link to this thread.

Re: Newbe
Your brief list of issues can only be answered briefly but if you can offer more of a description of the problems then answers can be more complete.

Re: Door Sunshades
Don't worry buddy, you'll be the one laughing when there's a plethora of sunshade related issues in the problems section. "Help, my hooky thing snapped off/my 2 year old pulled it off and it won't retract/the bloody things won't stop rattling!!!!"

Re: X5 4.4i 2005 - new or recon engine needed
Eeeek. I think I'd have an 'oops Tena' moment if I found that c**p in my sump. Looking forward to the follow up on this post.

Re: Door Sunshades
I have been lucky enough to buy my X5 fitted with a good amount of options from new so was chuffed to bits to find the shades in the rear. They have the little quarter light rear glass fitted with a shade aswell..... Keep a look out on eBay for a set of rear door panels fitted with them. I've seen ...

Re: Door Sunshades
Clips by the hand grab are normally to hang your suit jacket on. The sunshade clips are on the top if the window frames.

Re: X5 4.4i 2005 - new or recon engine needed
Relevant scenario but not BMW ...... Just replaced an engine on an Astra mk5 and the engine came from an eBay business and was listed as 'without accessories, not refurbished but guaranteed for 30 days - ran perfect prior to removal' and cost £450 including shipping. Arrived to my tame mechanic on a ...

Re: Tyre opinions
Not a gimic but maybe an agreement whereby certain manufacturers of service parts come to a financial agreement with car manufacturers. I'm not saying that the compound or manufacturing process of star ratied is no different to non star rated tyres, but is it absolutely necessary to strictly adhere ...

Re: Tyre opinions
For anyone who is interested, I bit the bullet and purchased the Maxxis Marauder 2 mas2 for the front of the e53 and first impressions are pretty good. Couldn't source the Ventus St as hoped so wanted something with similar tread pattern.

Re: metallic clank at rear
I thought it was the exhaust heat shield loose on mine every time I hit a speed bump or pot hole so didn't occur that itcould have been a bush as the wheel had no sidewalls play. When I grabbed the bottom and top if the wheel and really pulled at the bottom I eventually felt the play and heard the ...

Re: Pdc fault
Just my belated two pence worth.... I bought 3 amazon/eBay specials a couple years ago for my e39 and at £12 each they were fine. Luck of the draw maybe but I'd rather put in new cheapos than old scrappy pdc sensors.

Re: Lineal power loss - limp Mode?
So my problems were down to a coincidental vacuum pipe issue. The pipe from the vacuum tank to the intersection on the opposite side of the engine was rotten just before the connection and the two small pipes to the other regulators had collapsed. Power has been restored for the princely sum of £4 ...

Re: metallic clank at rear
One of your Rose Bushes is probably knackered. Common failing from around 120k miles apparently. Took me a while to diagnose with the car on the ground but if you get the wheel up in the air and give it a good pull from underneath, you should feel some abnormal movement and a dull clunk. If you're ...

Re: Changing Headunit
Would recommend you go on this site and do a search.http://forum.bmw5.co.uk/forum/64-e39-1996-2004/
I have seen lots of discussion over there on many and most aftermarket options including Dynavin, Pumpkin, Eonon, etc and the only difference between the original wide-screen head units on the E39 vs ...
