my Gauge was the same, didn't fancy fiddling with the car in the dark out side so I got a trusted garage to do the job and give the car a service at the same time. Genuine BMW thermostats too, £250 all in.
problem solved

I was getting 39 mpg before changing the stat! May nip up a bit more now, who knows. 120 mile run on the cards tomorrow so we'll find out.

Never thought of the scanner. Got one for my z4. Think I'll plug in and see what's what next time I use the x.

Re: Normal operating temps on dash indicator
Mine sat in the same place this time last year and do so now as well. Once the outside temp warms up a little it moves hotting and to vertical. Heater is always nice and warm though
Might have a look at the thermostat........
Is it worth it?

Re: First year with my X3
[quote="MITCHF"] Bought my 06 2.0d in Jan this year. All I have had to spend was £110 for a service. £54 for new MAF , fitted myself. Had a little stumble on the power at about 1500rpm. I have had it remapped and DPF removed ( swirl flaps done) it is smoother, much better acceleration and gives me 3 ...

E83 towboat fitting
2007 SE 2.0 D
id there a 'how to' on tower fitting, electrics and mechanical?
anyone done it?, I guess the bumper comes off but does it need cutting? Worried about electrics, is a model of some sort needed and will the car need coding?
thanks

Re: BMW Convertible for the summer
Hi Syd I'm a bit of a car nut and am currently on my second Z4, this time a 28i 2015 model in mineral grey with tan interior. Its significantly better than my first (2.0i) in every respect other than colour. My first one was deep sea blue with cream leather and the combination was magnificent. The ...

Scanners
Hi all. I see frequent reference to c110 scanners on here. I have a cheap orange u480 scanner that's been on everything from my Porsche to current x3 and been ok.
Can someone please explain what advantages I'd get with the c110 over my u480?
Thanks

Re: My new to me X3 seems to have 'character'
Well guess there's not much interest but just in case there is I have a follow up. The supplying dealer has been terrific. Initially he was stumped so contacted a gearbox specialist who suggested it could be early signs of DMF failure. So changed the DMF and clutch and hey presto it's great. What's ...
